the kids are growing up too fast

Do you remember this photo I posted way back in April???

Well, the kids have managed to escape the rotisserie rack so far...

Well, most of em anyway.

Finally, the rain moves on

6 straight days of rain, set a record, over 7 inches.

We made the best of it, reading and enjoying crackers and salsa on the deck...

While the wind was whipping up whitecaps in our normally calm cove.

I did feel very sorry for the tourists who come for just a week.  It was possible they didn't see the sun at all.

But yesterday, the tropical weather finally turned...

We went to the beach.

Sigh... 3rd time. Your tax dollars at work

This project started before we arrived on the island (almost 4 months ago).

Put a sidewalk in front of the high school... maybe 200 yards.

This section was finished a month ago.  Thought they were making progress, till I walked by and saw the orange lines...

And the almost always present traffic delay...

And sure enough, next morning...

Wouldn't be as funny, except this is the third time they have paved this section, smoothed it, made it look finished, and then tore it up again.

And here is the sad thing...

Here's hoping your stimulus money is being better spent.

The World Cup

It's been almost chilly lately, and cloud cover much of the time (chilly is about 78 degrees).  Too cold to swim, so the kids in the area are playing world cup...

This is the view from my deck as I ate my lunch....

And this little guy in the orange shirt can runcircles around the tall kid!

Wind, Rain and Sunrise

Woke up over the weekend, worst weather yet...

Wind

Rain

Even whitecaps in our calm cove...

But the next day, a beautiful sun rise!

It all evens out!

Sapphire Beach - Best Snorkeling day yet Part The Beach

OK, if you have been watching daily, you have seen several posts in a row Featuring Sapphire beach.  If you are a snorkeler, have a limited time to visit the island, the best snorkeling experience I have had was at Sapphire.

Sapphire Beach - Best Snorkeling day yet Part OCTOPUS

Look close, they are VERY hard to see, but there he is.

Only the second one we have seen.  Unlike the movies, they are very passive.  Not aggressive at all.  Once they know they are spotted by something bigger, they freeze and do not move.  SO, I have no pictures of his tentacles out, but they are there...

Sapphire Beach - Best Snorkeling day yet Part TURTLE TURTLE TURTLE

The hanger on is a REMORA or SHARKSUCKER.

A remora breaths under the water, while a sea turtle must surface every once in awhile to breath air.  The Sharksucker moves to the bottom of his host when the turtle surfaces...

Once the turtle takes a breath, he drops to the ocean floor to eat more grass (the sucker eats the leftovers), and it all repeats...

He doesn't seem to mind.
